New Law Against Texting While Driving

Posted by Richard Lawson | Jun 29, 2010 | 0 Comments

Starting July 1, 2010 I will now be a crime to "text" while driving.  This new law will give a new reason for the police to stop vehicles.  Once a car is stopped, a police officer can investigate someone if they have a reasonable suspicion that the person is DUI.  Also, a police officer can make an arrest for a crime he sees in his "plain view."  Such things can include marijuana and/or other drugs.  So be careful not to text while driving.  Not only is it a safety issue; it may keep you out of jail for some other criminal offense.
