What to look for when hiring a Forsyth County DUI Lawyer

Getting charged with DUI is a terrible experience.  An experienced Forsyth County DUI attorney can help.  However, many people do not know what to look for when hiring a Forsyth Co. DUI lawyer.  Here are some suggestions:

(1) Is the lawyer a generalist or does he or she maintain an exclusive DUI practice.
Forsyth County DUI lawyer Richard Lawson is just that - a DUI lawyer.  When an attorney takes and passes the bar in the state of Georgia, they can practice any type of law they want.  Many lawyers do a little of everything ranging from family law to bankruptcy to DUI defense.  Others focus on criminal law and do DUI defense in addition to theft charges and violent crimes like rape, armed robbery, and murder.  Since Mr. Lawson only does DUI defense work, he is up to date on all aspects of DUI law and knows many of the DUI prosecutors and judges.  He does not have the distractions that these other generalist attorneys face and focuses 100% on getting the best results possible in DUI cases.

(2)  Trial Experience.  Many DUI lawyers do not have trial experience and rarely take a case to trial.  Always ask a potential lawyer about their trial experience.  Even if you plan to plead guilty, a lawyer that routinely fights cases has a better reputation with the judge and prosecuting attorneys.  This enables them to get charges dismissed more often.  Mr. Lawson has tried over 100 cases. Call his office today for a free consultation.
